Impressive season finale for rookie pro DH racer
British downhiller Danny Hart capped off his successful rookie season on the Giant Factory Off-Road Team with an eighth-place finish at World Championships in Mont-Sainte-Anne, Québec. Hart was one of many athletes riding Giant at the September 2-5 Mountain Bike World Championships in Canada.
Hart, the Junior World Cup Series Champion in 2009, was racing in the elite category for the first time this year. The 18-year-old put in an impressive run on his Giant Glory downhill bike, mastering the wet, slippery course to take the lead with a time of 4:45.74. In the end, Hart was 7.87 seconds off the winning time of Australian Sam Hill and one spot behind fellow Brit and 2009 World Champ Steve Peat.
In cross-country competition, Rabobank-Giant rider Fabian Giger of Switzerland led the team with a 22nd place finish in elite men's competition. Young Dutch rider Henk Jaap Moorlag was one of several Giant riders to race well in Under-23 competition. The 2009 Junior Champion of The Netherlands finished ninth at Mont-Sainte-Anne in his first year as a U23 rider.
